The anti-Kirk, Spock was the main reason I watched Star Trek. No one ever owned a character like Leonard owned Spock. RIP

I copied this from a friend's facebook page......

"RIP Leonard Nimoy. Seems like the appropriate time to share that I sat next to him on a flight once a few years back. He didn't like to fly, as the change in cabin pressure caused him a lot of ear pain. I could tell he was uncomfortable so I didn't bother him at all. BUT I did strain my eyeballs to read the contract he was going over...it turned out to be a contract where all of the his royalties from Trek souvenir items would be donated to Boston Children's Hospital. What a lovely person and a great tidbit to know about someone who has been a part of our pop-culture lives for over 40 years. He lived long and shared his prosperity."

Very cool Howard!

Thanks for sharing that.

So many things they did on that show back in the day seemed so far out, now they are everyday common things.
Regards, Craig

My brother in law has an album of him singing popular country songs of the time. I think Wichita Lineman was one of them. RP

He also did "If I Had a Hammer". You can find it on YouTube. Pretty good.

Actor Leonard Nimoy, who played Mr Spock in the cult sci-fi series Star Trek, has died at the age of 83 in
Los Angeles, his family has said. Mimoy died of end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease on
Friday morning. He had a long career as both an actor and director. He was best known for his portrayal of the half-human - half-Vulcan character in Star Trek Series. Last year, Nimoy revealed he was suffering chronic lung disease - COPD, despite he stopped smoking 30 years ago. Leonard Nimoy, R.I.P.

Sure did to me, Craig.

The series had its effect; when I wore a pager (for emergancy piano tunings  ) one promoter would
call and say 'Beam me up Scotty.' That was before flip-phones.

Leonard Nimoy will be missed!
Though his Star Trek character Spock showed little emotion as a true Vulcan would, there was one episode where he wept and sang. Spock was half human.

Take care, young ladies, and value your wine.
Be watchful of young men in their velvet prime.
Deeply they'll swallow from your finest kegs,
Then swiftly be gone, leaving bitter dregs.
Ahh-ah-ah-ah, bitter dregs.

With smiling words and tender touch,
Man offers little and asks for so much.
He loves in the breathless excitement of night,
Then leaves with your treasure in cold morning light.
Ahh-ah-ah-ah, in cold morning light.

Funny that this would come up on a guitar forum, but it goes to show how universally known and loved the man was.
I met Leonard for the 1st time in 1978 while working for the make-up department on the 1st Star Trek movie.
Make-up man Fred Phillips hired me and a couple colleagues to reproduce his ear prosthetics from the series, as well as the other alien make-ups for the film.
Mr. Nimoy's kindness and encouragement helped me along on a career that has lasted over 35 years.
Over the years I worked on many of the ST features and he was always appreciative of the make-up department with who's collaboration, helped him create an iconic character that will live on!
Rest in Peace, sir. LLAP
