Larry Self would have been 79 today

Post by Jeffery Self »

We lost Larry last September to cancer. He is missed by many! He is the very reason I was able to meet most all of the Steel Guitar greats.

Happy Birthday Larry.

I remember him starting out at the bottom not knowing any of the huge customer/fan base he developed over the years. He sure put his heart and soul in that business and from I could tell it seemed to pay off for him. On top of it all he made a lot of life long friends. I sure do miss that guy like crazy, Happy belated birthday Larry.

I met Larry Self through my uncle Bobby Sims when he came to Rhea County and opened a music store in downtown Dayton, Tn. He put on a great steel guitar show in the Masonic Lodge in Dayton with some of the greatest steel guitar players who ever lived. He was a very kind man and a real people person. Not many men like him left in this old world. God bless Larry Self and his family.
