Good Software App For Doing Webpage Site

Post by DG Whitley »

Well, for what it might be worth, I'm thinking of doing a website for basically beginning PSG players. I'd like to put a lot of the stuff I've learned over the years into sort of a compact space by category.

My question: What is a good application to do my webpages with that might also allow sales transactions capability at a later date?

All thoughts/suggestions deeply appreciated.

A sincere thank you in advance for your time and effort.

Check out Coffeecup.com. I use most of their website design and development tools in my webmaster work. This includes an html 5 editor, a new responsive layout editor, shopping cart creators and all manner of interconnected programs to git er done.

As for web hosting, I can assist you with that, if you're so inclined.

Thanks Wiz, I deeply appreciate the offer. At this point I'm in the process of arranging what and where to put things.

I want to include possible copedents and what chords are possible with each setup. Chord grips and locations, just basic stuff to begin with. I also may be going into demonstration videos and such.

Just trying to get it all straight in my head right now. I'll be in touch.

Thank you again.

Check out my own copedent page on Wiztunes.com. The copedent is in a table, which is still valid in the current HTML 5 standard. This is a perfect use for an HTML table. Mind you, that website was last revised before mobile devices became mainstream and is not quite mobile friendly yet (I am in the process of making all of my hundreds of web pages mobile friendly (responsive layout)).

Right click on the page in your browser and look for an option to view the source code. This is the actual HTML that I used to create the layout. However, some codes will be hidden from view simply because the View Source page doesn't delve into JavaScript and CSS includes.

I strongly advise all web design newbies to design and test offline. Be very careful with third party scripts, especially anything written in PHP. Many free and even some commercial scripts were initially written before website hacking became mainstream. Many free scripts have been abandoned by the authors, but are still available for downloading. A lot of scripting security errors were allowed to remain and hackers find them and publish or sell the exploits to others in the cybercrime underground.

Finally, anybody contemplating running a WordPress website, who lacks a Masters knowledge of website security and defending against website hack attacks, should consider using the WordPress hosted option, rather than self hosting it. You will thank me later.
