Jack Sondermeyer Peavey's Amp Designer

Post by Godfrey Arthur »

The man whose designs helped advance the music industry has passed.

His name has been brought up a time or two on this forum.

Jack Sondermeyer as former lead engineer for Peavey's analog products including amps like the CS800, and many more, helped design the amplifier industry.

Here are peer reviewed threads on Mr. Sondermeyer.

An excerpt John Roberts quote:

"Way too many to list. Since the early '70s every Peavey product with analog electronics had Jack's finger prints all over them."

Then this:

"In 1972, the Sondermeyers decided to
make the change and accepted my offer. Jack and
his family moved to Mississippi. A pivotal event for
Peavey Electronics!"

Hartley Peavey

If you look up Google images for Mr. Sondermeyer's photo, all you get are patents and schematics:

In the 1980s, every country band in the Centex area had a PA system with at least one CS800, and generally two; one for the mains and one for the monitors. Made us junk our Shure Vocal Masters.
My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?
