Jack Baker

Post by Rick Baker »

My father Jack Baker passed away on 12/16.

His steel guitar work goes back to the early 60's in Maryland with Don Thompson and The Country Hayriders. They backed Porter Wagoner, Stella Parton, Carl & Pearl Butler and other Nashville stars.

After moving to Virginia in the early 70's he found a great friend in Mr. Billy Cooper.

Jack hung up his "special picks" in the late 70's but would sit-in with groups in VA and SC with a smile.

Another special thanks to Mike Cass for grating me the ability to re-obtain his 1971 Emmons - I'll always owe you one.

This is the beauty of this forum--having a guitar with special meaning, friends who can join in bereavement.
My condolences to you, Rick.
