Wasn't he a song writer and also played keyboards with Mel Tillis?

I know he was a pretty prolific songwriter, well known around the Fort Worth area. I didn't know whether he had played keyboards for Mel Tillis.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?
