Sounds good. I saw Hog Heaven play live way back in 1970, but I don't remember a pedal steel in the band. It's hard to believe that was 44 years ago!

Thanks! Glad you guys enjoyed it.

I knew someone, back on the mid-70's...when the PSGA had their meetings in Long Island. A fellow member, who was around the same age as me (late teens), said he use to go see Hog Heaven play in NJ...& Buddy was in the band then. He said Buddy was playing awesome!

I never had the chance to see Hog Heaven, Live. Would have been very cool to see/hear!!

I had that album back in the 70's.. Loaned it to another steel player[beginner] and thats the last I saw of it, and could never find another copy anywhere.. I haven't heard Bumpin'Slapcar Momma in probably 35 years.. A wonderful example of Buddy's happy pedal steel sound.. he was my main influence back then, and I doted on every nuance' of his playing.. Times have changed, but a lot of those licks I stole from Buddy remain a part of my playing to this day... How any steel player could NOT like Buddy Cage's playing in his early days is beyond me.. Such a playful, bouncy, happy sound.. Still puts a smile on my face.. thanks SO much for posting this!!!.. bob

I agree, Bob.

I agree, 100% Bob!! Cage is still a great steel player, maybe not as "aggressive" as the earlier days. And it's NOT a drug thing. He's been 100% clean, since 1989! He was playing totally awesome, until cancer (possibly) slowed him down, just a little. NRPS, is more of a "jam band," these days. They still sound great, though! I saw them in December...& Buddy sounded awesome!

How many would still have the strength, to still be touring, on a regular basis...with Cancer? Multiple Myeloma. I doubt I could do it.

I have MANY steel heroes, & Buddy is one of them.

Here's a direct link, to Amazon...for the Hog Heaven CD. I'd jump on it! The price keeps changing, almost daily...& could go out of print??
