I just learned from Opry squaredancer and WSM DJ Marcia Cambell that the great Earl White, who had played for the squaredancers on the Opry since the mid 1950s and was a good friend to everybody including all of us steel players, has passed away.
Another golden era country musician is lost.
Earl is playing most of the fiddle tunes on the old technicolor Gannaway "Stars of the Grand Ole Opry" shows. If you'd like to take a minute to remember Earl by watching him in his prime, that's a great place to see him "boilin' some cabbage."
Rest in peace.
Longtime Opry squaredance fiddler Earl White passes.

So sorry to learn that Earl has passed.
I first met Earl in early 1960.
