I recorded this just now over my lunch break. It's an original arrangement of a Schubert piece that I came up with about 9 months ago when I was still very green on the pedal steel. I played it again last night and thought I should share it here:

Here's a recording of it done by an orchestra: http://youtu.be/ZpA0l2WB86E
It's really neat to see what state of mind I was in with the pedal steel back then. One big thing that I notice is that I was thinking in terms of notes instead of chords. That's why I'd prefer to stay on one fret and utilize the strings and pedals instead of moving around with the chords. One thing I've probably lost since then is that my ears aren't as fresh anymore. Now it's much easier to play what I think is intuitive on the steel instead of what my mind might imagine.
There's more to the song, but I remember that I gave up on it because it wasn't very friendly to E9 tuning. The arrangement relies on leaving strings ringing for its sound and that's where I ran into trouble. If you guys like it, maybe I can finish it, set it to uniform rhythm, and ask a friend or two to provide accompaniment.
