Cajun Steeler Richard Comeaux & Rittenberry WOW!!!

Post by David Higginbotham »

Here is a clip of Richard Comeaux playing some Patsy Cline. Great player to say the least and that Ritt sounds amazing!

And some Kitty Wells...

David, Richard is one of those guys who could string barbwire on a 2x4 and make it sound good. That Ritt is exceptional and Comeaux's vocal accompaniment is not bad either :D I was with a particular band for 20 + years in south La. and Richard was one of the two or three players to fill in when I couldn't make a gig. The next gig the guys always checked to see if I needed any more time off go figure :?:

Billy, that's really funny! Another steel player here said his band says the same thing after Marty Broussard fills in for him. :)

Richard plays effortlessly and seems like he has no plan while playing. Almost as tho he is making it up as he goes along...then he plays if flawlessly and comes up with the most incredible runs with unbelievable precision. When I asked Richard where he comes up with this stuff that most of us can't even comprehend, Richard said he's only connecting the dots...very modestly! To which I replied those dots don't exist on my steel :(

nice throaty sound from that rittenberry.
agonizingly slow vocal rendition though.
makes his nice playing a little too much/too heavy for the cut.

Yvette, Richard & the RB

Post by Billy Carr »

It's easy to see from watching Yvette's videos with a steelman that she likes steel guitar! Maybe we can get her to a steel show to perform in Mississippi or Louisiana sometime. All of steel guys from Louisiana are great! I'd love to play a set with her and the guys. Not a problem at all.

Just kidding Richard; great playing, sounds good!
You got some good tone!
I guess I have to sneak up on you one day soon; I'll come and tune it up for you and you will really sound good.
love ya' man, but I won't give you my Bud Lite.
See you soon, somewhere!!!
