I love that song, and I love what you're doing with it overall. However, if I had to criticize it, it would be in your phrasing. You're coming in too soon on the second part of the melody.

Listen to Monk's version to hear what I mean.

It sure is a fun song to play, and that comes through on your performance. Thanks for sharing!

Brad, I believe they arranged it that way. If you listen to the head out (after the nice steel solo) at 3:03, they play it "correctly" the 1st time, then with the 3/4 section the second time.
I recorded this song in my pajamas a few years ago, lol

If I counted it correctly the form is an 11 bar blues, 11 + 12 compressed into 1 bar, with the repeat of the head bar 5 + 6 in 3/4. Right?

Gentlemen,
it was indeed intented. On the repeat of the theme, we turn bars 12 and 5&6 into a 3/4. Thought it was a nice twist to the song, and helps to keep things fresh. Thanks for listening!
