Hank Thompson with chalker, YouTube
This is the best or one of the best chalker rides I have heard. It is on hank Thompson record of stirring up the ashes . You can find it on YouTube.

When I saw Chalker with Hank Thompson in Southern Calif. in about '63 or '64, he was playing a blonde Fender 1000 (D-8)through two 4X10 tweed Bassman amps. He had the C6th on the inside neck and the outside neck didn't have strings on it. All the steel players in Southern Calif. who weren't working that night, were gathered around the end of the bandstand watching Curly.

Curly was still playing the 1000 D-8 here, which was cut sometime in '63. He then went to a 2000 sometime in '64 D-10.
This guitar didn't have much quality tone, in the 400 and 1000, but Fender had improved the P/Us by the time the 800 and 2000 came on the market..
This recording is missing the two bass strings of later D-10 models.. He still got more out of the D-8 than anybody else could.
