Buddy Merrill Is A Fantastic Guitarist & Steel Guitarist, Best Known For His Many Years On The Lawrence Welk Show. Few People Know Just How Good He Really Was, & We Are Going To Put A Few Clips On Youtube To Help Set The Record Straight.
Here Buddy Plays His Custom Steel Guitar, An Instrument That Buddy Made In High School Shop Class Using Fender Steel Guitar Parts, But Built To Resemble Speedy West's Blonde Maple Bigsby Steel Guitar. The Plaque On The Front Reads: "Custom Made By Buddy Merrill." Play It, Buddy!

Buddy.. a master on non pedal, pedal steel and 6 string.. he is among the very best steel players of all time, and far too many modern steel players have NO idea who he is...
He is a delight to watch and listen to.. I remember his playing as a kid watching Lawrence Welk..
People today snicker when they see old LW clips, because he was a mix of ultra cornball, and musician cool[swing out Buddy], but let me trell, only the elite musicians of the day got a gig with him...
I was a rocker since birth, but as a kid, I NEVER missed that show.. I knew good when I heard it- even back then...bob
