Jerry is about as unique as they come. He has a touch and style that is not matched by anyone else. Got to You Tube and bring up Ferlin Husky and his version of "Next to Jimmy I come first" and hear the Master at work on that one.

Yes, that is Jerry Byrd, the singer is Goldie Hill. Jerry recorded quite a few sides in the 1960s with Nashville stars of the era, incl. Dick Curless, Hank Cochran and Billy Walker. The original version of "Charlie's Shoes" featured JB heavily but they decided to record another version w/o steel and Billy doing the whistling part instead. :\
