Freewheelin' band / Mr. Music Man / David "DJ" Rupert

Post by David Rupert »

First of all. Let's please put the past, in the past. I again, publicly apologize for any problems I may have caused here, on this great forum.
We all make bad mistakes. I am sorry. In my defense, I was not always at fault. Takes two.....to cause a problem.
I've been a member here, since the 90's.

Anyway, I've uploaded many songs lately to YouTube.
Some are old, some are new.

This one, was recorded in 1981. No cut & paste, auto-tune, etc. one or two takes.

Band: Freewheelin'
Pedal Steel Guitar: David "DJ" Rupert

Emmons push/pull Pedal Steel Guitar
1979 model
Peavey LTD 400
Effects on this: none.

I hope you will listen, & comment. Be kind...but honest.

Mr. Music Man

Hope you enjoy!

Peace.

Not bad for a "kid". ;-) I had no idea that country music was being played in NYC back in 1981. They were lucky to find a good steel player.

Very "live" sound. Rehearsal, or gig?

You and me had a lot of the same licks back then.

The girl singer sounds like she really wanted to be singing jazz. Dan Hicks influence, I bet - she sounds like Naomi Eisenberg. (I used to play with Naomi, and Hicks would come to gigs and harass her from the audience. With Solid Air, I opened a show for him a couple of years ago. His manners have not improved at all. No respect for other musicians. I don't know how people put up with him.)

DAVE, nice Emmons push pull sounding steel. I remember you from the PSGA, with Bob M., Jim Hand, Tommy Lopez, John DeMilia, Tommy Higgins, Smity & the rest of gang from the Wagon Wheel Inn, Huntington L.I.

Man those were the days back in the 70's

Btw, I had tons more of my playing. But it was ruined in a flood in Bedford, NY...around 1989/90. All cassette tapes were ruined.
It took me 4 years of begging my old band, to get the songs I have here.

More to come. I think you will dig them.

Again - thank you very much!

Hi Ken,

I remember those days. And the Wagon Wheel Inn.
I actually got up & played Buds Bounce & Steel Guitar Rag...in a room full of steel players. I had only been playing around 1 year. I was nervous!
Bob M. was very kind & supportive. Great times!

Thanks Ken!

more to come, in a few days or less. I've not been this busy in years.

On a lighter note, please pray for me. I'm not doing well, in many ways.
I really can't take much more. I'm hurting badly...emotionally, physically, etc.

Sorry for bring so open. I just need to vent. It helps me. I'm a good person, dispite my occasional "rants" here on b0b's wonderful forum. He's a great man, & has been patient with me. I've only acted "creepy"...in the last year or so. Not an excuse, but a reason as to why I have been easy to anger of late. I've had over 2 years of hell on earth. That will have an effect on the best of men, or women.

I'm sorry for this. Please don't avoid me, for my shortcomings. I'm a good man...& a good steel player. I didn't say "great"...as in the pros like Emmons, Franklin, etc. they are in a totally different league. They are aliens. Lol. Great, great aliens! Lol.

Love & Peace......serious!

I started playing in 1975.
David at that time you would have been much in demand over here. Never met a steelplayer over here at that time, only in the mid- eighties did I get to play with one and he was an American also. I started playing in '89.
