From A Western Movie, "The King Of Western Swing"...

The Steel Player Is Leon McAuliffe; Junior Barnard On Guitar, Jesse Ashlock On Fiddle; Cotton Thompson On The Vocal. (ca. 1942)

Roger, a great video. Thanks for posting. However, I believe that you are mistaken on the steel player. I don't believe Leon McAuliffe is the steel player, but I am not sure.

HI C.E.

I believe this movie was made during 1942 & Leon didn't leave the band until December 1942.

Leon was about 6' 2" Tall & Noel was about 5' 4" Tall. Noel didn't join Bob Wills until 1944.

Leon's signature move was to lift his right hand high above the strings after picking them, which he does in this movie.

These are the reasons I believe the steel player is Leon McAuliffe. :)
