Joe Douglas Passing

Post by Norman Boling »

Joe is from Black Rock AR and had been a local steel player for many many years. Joe has helped a number of people get started playing steel and I'm one.

Joe was an accomplished lead guitar player for years before taking up steel and was known for his "Chet Atkins" sound locally in country music.

I would often listen to the stories, The "Rhodes band" Speck, and the others are from this little town. Joe would talk about sitting around a table with the Rhodes and John Hughey, another Arkansas boy. Some of the old B&W photos Joe has of those get togethers are something to see.

Joe was a kind mentor that loved steel about as much as anyone I know and we will miss Joe.
