pat simmons grew up around the san jose/santa cruz area and always had his acoustic guitar with him.
there's a little surfing spot just north of the pier in santa cruz called steamer lane.
pat always seemed a little wiser than many people i knew. the first real band he got into was the doobie bros.
john mcfee was in a band around the bay area named clover. he was playing a sho-bud at that time.

that's interesting joachim....i wonder how he hooked up with john cowan? i noticed john was playing bass on that steamer lane cut.

John Cowan is now a permanent member of the Doobie Brothers as is John McFee. That's the connection.
