HELP PLEASE we want to record live at the bar we play at want to use C.D.'s so we could record and give them to the people who are having that special anniversary / birthday --must be user friendly and mobil IS there such a machine?? Lots of options for a "live on site" recording. Anything from someone with a phone such as an iPhone or an iPad to someone with a camera that will record video/sound to various solid state recorders, to hard drive recorders to a laptop PC with a recording program and interface.

Just depends on how good (audio quality) you want the recording.

I have a home recording studio and have a laptop setup with my recording program (Sonar) and use my 8 channel USB recording interface unit for "on site" recordings.

do you want a nice 2 track stereo recording of the band or a multi mic placement of the band ?


A Zoom H2 will do the trick for the 2 track and a Zoom R16 will do the trick for multi mic recording 8 tracks at a time with 8 inputs. Both units run on batteries ( or AC power) and are very small and portable.

I have been using a Zoom H2 for recording gigs and rehearsals for the past 3 or 4 years. It doesn't lie !
