Linda Ronstadt with Buddy Emmons Live

Post by Richard Sinkler »

I stumbled upon this video of Linda singing "Love Has No Pride" with Buddy Emmons in a live concert. Not only is this one of my favorite song she sings, but to see her with Andrew Gold, Kenny Edwards (both who are no longer with us), and Buddy who no longer plays, and of course Linda who has been silenced by Parkinson's Disease, this just brought tears to my eyes. All that talent that we have lost is really sad.

Thanks for posting, Richard! Good to know that it was actually Buddy who played on that recording. Until now I only knew "Silver Treats And Golden Needles" from that show which has a great steel solo and an outstanding b-bender guitar solo from Bob Warford http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FiKHaSRMeg

Alexander, just to keep the record straight,Sneaky Pete Kleinow played steel on the original recording of "Love has no Pride" Don't Cry Now album 1973.Red Rhodes played fuzz steel on her 1969 release of "Silver Threads" and Ed Black played on her 1973 rerelease of "ST and GN" channeling Red's solo on the popular hit. Buddy Emmons only recorded "In My Reply" and "I Ain't Always Been Faithful"(hauntingly beautiful steel) with Linda.

John, I didn't make myself clear. I said "recording" but meant this TV performance with Buddy and Bob Warford. But thanks for brighten my horizon concerning the steel players on Linda's records :D .

John. Buddy is also listed on the "Don't Cry Now album". I believe he is playing on the actual song, "Don't Cry Now". Definitely not Pete's style or tone.

Sneaky Pete for sure on the record doing "Love Has No Pride".

Chris. Linda has never looked better than she did in that video. There's still a pool of drool under my chair.

Here's a live clip of "Love Has No Pride" that I believe Sneaky Pete is playing with her on. Having never been a fan of Sneaky Pete, I am not positive of what he looked like throughout his career.

You're correct Richard,Buddy is on "Don't Cry Now".And that is Sneaky Pete..I saw him with a reunion of The Flying Burritos in 72-73. He had an ElectroHarmonix Big Muff fuzz attached to the back of his Fender near the changer and would hit it with the heel of hand. He was definitely "out of the box"! I hope things are doing better for you these days..JS

Music from my childhood. Makes me feel old. Seems like a real long time ago. :(

So sad about her illness. It is a terrible disease. My prayers are with Linda.
