Carl, you are absolutely right. Pure sound with a natural ambience (analog) and no punching in to cover mistakes.

I am just getting into learning this tune. The melody is simple to hum and whistle,I've played it on six string for a long time, but playing it on the steel is a whole 'nother world. And then you have someone like Hal Rugg who keeps it square on the mark, and still pulls out imaginative and inspired phrases, more like what an old piano player would have worked up (like between the 4:47 to 5:01 mark, for example). This is a real gem in a fantastic treasure trove of steel documentation. Thanks again, Bill.
This is one of my favorites you've put up.
