Muskogee , Ok newspaper review of Gill/ Franklin cd

Post by Tony Tipton »

The Muskogee Phoenix Friday edition newspaper ran a preview of the Vince Gill/Paul Franklin Bakersfield cd . With a 6 by 8 photo of a them playing a telecaster and pedal steel, it was easy to get excited about the new cd. It is very rare to see a pic of a pedal steel in our local paper. It prompted me to go buy the cd and the iTunes cd. It did not disappoint ! There is no skipping to another song. They are all terrific ! A must have for all steel players and country fans alike. This project must be something special since it is receiving much attention. I see awards coming out of this project and I need to get me a copy. I think it is great Tony to see newspapers around the country publishing articles about Paul and Vince and the new CD thay have on the market.

Muskogee newspaper article on gill/franklin

Very nice to hear today's greats do old classics. I wonder how it would go over for them to do original material with these extended telecaster/ pedal steel runs on it. They might carry enough weight to help change the course of country music. Just wondering . Tony

Jim, try going to features@muskogeepheonix.com. Then click on the e-news link . It will take you to a free app for the online version. Hope that helps. The Swon brothers that were on The Voice are from Muskogee, so there has been a lot of stories about them and country music . I saw they sang Okie from Muskogee at the Time Jumpers Show. If you need more help, let me know.

Vince and Paul

There is an interview on which it is just Paul and Vince - steel, guitar, and Vince's voice. They did "I Can't Be Myself" and it is a WOW song! I'll try to find the podcast that had the interview. It's worth the watch.
