The Spencers Gospel, with some great steel.

Post by Marcus Provis »

Hi folks,

I have been enjoying watching this Youtube video which features the Spencer Family, and loved the great steel playing.

I have a few of this group's cd's which have plenty of nice steel playing on them, by Scotty Sanders.

I too have enjoyed some of the Spencer Family videos. Scott Sanders played on their projects but that is not him on the video from what I remember. Scott was small in stature and that video was from the 1991. However, it does look like Dirk Johnson on piano.

That's Mike Douchette. He played on one or two of their recordings under the name Mike Davis.

I thought that was Mike but was not sure. As stated Scott Sanders played on some of the Spencer projects. For those who may not know, Scott Sanders was the steel player for the Original Hinsons, a superb Southern Gospel group.

Spencers

Post by Marcus Provis »

Thank you guys for all your comments.

This Forum is a great place, and I always enjoy reading all the responses.
I also love your playing Mike, on all the instruments; it was great to see and hear you in these videos of the Spencers.
I have watched it many times, and tried to make out what type of steel it was that you were playing there.

Thanks again to all
Marcus
