Definitely not a 'Wedding Song'

Post by Sez Adamson »

This song always conjures up for me an image of a 'Mike Hammer' type character, sitting in a smoky bar at 2 O'Clock in the morning. Girlfriend has left him. There he sits, head down; cigarette in hand; a full ashtray in front of him; empty booze bottles everywhere. There's a couple of other guys sitting at tables in the dark corners of the bar. They are listening to a girl singer in a glitzy outfit, both of which have seen better days. You can barely see her through the cigarette smoke, but the words of the song strike home.
