Weldon Myrick

Post by Reggie Duncan »

I think this is one of the coolest gospel recordings of "Just in Time" by Dottie Rambo, as sung by the Kingsmen Quartet of Asheville NC. To me this is classic Weldon Myrick!!!

Weldon Myrick has to be one of the all time greats. He is one of those guys I could sit for hours and listen to.

Great stuff! There's a bunch of The Kingsmen on YouTube. Here's one I like a lot. Sounds to me like Weldon Myrick, and maybe Charlie McCoy and a hot guitarist, maybe Reggie Young?

Squire Parsons is the real deal! I have had a chance to get to know him on a more personal level in the last few years. We were without power and phone service for 10 days after hurricane Katrina. When phone service returned, the first call I recieved was from his office, checking on us.

Gary "Beaver" Dillard played steel on the road for a lot of years with the Kingsmen. He really did a fine job with them. I remember one night he was gracious enough to allow me to use his Carvin Amp. Kept me from having to drag that Peavey Session 500 in. Whew, what a heavy amp!

I met Gary only once and that was many years ago. I do remember him being a very nice guy and a good player. Seems like he was paying a light/med blue Emmons back then.

Weldon Myrick

I think this could be Weldon Myrick playing steel on this recording of the Florida Boys Quartet in early eighties, I have the LP myself, but couldn't remember who it said the steeler was... Marcus
