Glenn Tice 1941-2013

Post by Brandon Tice »

Hi everyone, I just thought I'd sign up and post to let you all know that my dad, Glenn Tice, passed away earlier this week. I'm not sure how many of you knew him but he played steel around Memphis and Nashville among other places from the 60s through the 2000s.

If you happen to have known him, I'd love to hear some memories or stories that you may have!

Thanks.

-Brandon

Brandon ,my condolences in the loss of your father. We were aquaintences back a few years ago while he was actively playing around town. He'd call me every once and a while looking for steel stuff to buy or sell, before the internet was such a big deal. I was fortunate to have heard him pick a few times when i was just getting into steel, he was kind enough give me pointers and encouragement from time to time. Seemed that between his day job and pickin he was always busy. I noticed in the third picture, the gray haired guy playing guitar sitting next to him is Johnny Julian, a mutual friend of ours. God bless you and your family in the days ahead.

Brandon, I am so sorry for your loss. The people on this forum are like family, whether we've actually met or not. Thank you for signing up so that you could post about your dad. I didn't know him; nevertheless, my heart goes out to you and your family at this difficult time.

God bless you always,

Thank you for the kind words. They are very much appreciated.

I'm also on the hunt for either his steel or one like it. Unfortunately he was forced to sell his guitar a few years back due to financial issues and he never bought another one. He had just bought a very nice Fender Steel King amp that I now have, so now I just need his guitar or one just like it to go with it. He only had two throughout my lifetime, and they are pictured above.

I know this isn't the right area of the forum for this type of post so I will start a new thread in the proper section.

Thanks again everyone.
