my good friend and steelplayer bob allen passes

Post by Greg Zimmer »

I don't know any details, but got a call tonight that steel guitar player bob Allen was found at his home today. His wife Kay has been in a nursing home battling health issue also...he moved to central Ohio around 2003 from Arizona and was active in many shows and road gigs with many artists...he will be greatly missed! We have lost another great Steelman!

My condolences to Kay and the family. Bob was a big help when we were putting the SWSGA's first shows together. He will be missed...RIP.

I am so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. I was priviledged to meet him a few years ago with Billy Easton at a fine May celebration in Dewey Arizona. Him being a steel player with a beautiful black Mullen and a warm personallity, he was instantly a friend. I was disappointed when he moved east from the Copper State. We exchanged emails a time or two and then we lost contact.

I have jammed with Bob many times. He was always willing to offer help and advice to me early in my playing career. He will deeply be missed. Kristy and me are praying for Bob's family, as well as the Prestons and all of our other Columbus steel friends we don't see often enough. Miss you guys!
