One of his fondest memories was playing a gig (he was a phenomenal drummer) with Jimmy Day, Doug Davis, and Eric Hokkanen at a ranch south of Marfa TX. It was one of those freezing outdoor gigs that pay well, he never tired of telling of it.
Big Al was 'Joy Dome' to many of us... and he was a giant dome of joy. It's sad that he made so much joy but could not find his own... very much a net creator of Joy.
There will be a gathering for Allan on Sunday 1/27 at 2:30pm at Jim O' Potluck Place, 5003 Wasson Rd Austin, TX 78745. The memorial service will be held a week later at a private residence, follow Allan's FB page for more info as it comes. Please wear tie-dye if you have them, it was Allan's favorite uniform.
