He dropped in at the Wagon Wheel once but didn't talk to me...he said we were too loud but the Boss was always after us to keep it up there. "That's what I'm paying you for !!" :\

Steve...I thought I was the first steel player you saw... Or did you say worst ?? :( 8)

Man. I love this guys style. I love watching his right hand. This is one of the first great players where I can really identify with his execution.

I can't define what makes him stand out so much for me at the moment. Is he on any recorded material?

Unfortunately Pee Wee is out of the game now. I have his "Pee Wee Clark Plays Hank Williams Classics" I also have his "Country Jazz" - a collaberation with Buddy Emmons. He signed that copy to me at the 2003 steel guitar festival and I was hournered.

I also have this album

I credit Pee Wee to planting the steel guitar bug in me when I used to listen to Reg Lindsay with my dad and wonder 'what is the strange instrument thingy in the background?' and I did'nt really like Dad's 'country music stuff either' - strange thing is I do now after all the rock and roll days!!!

Have a look at this link and you can see Pee Wee was inducted into our Hall of Fame this year. There is a recent photo as well. You will need to scroll down.

Like Jeff, I saw Pee Wee play his last show in 2003 at the Brisbane festival.
After his set we had a drink at the bar.
He looked up at me (I'm over 6'4") & said "What's the weather like up there" :)
Although Pee Wee is "height challenged", in my eyes he's 6'6" on the PSG.
All the best Pee Wee. :D
