Resophonic Swing - 8 String E6 Tuning - String Pulls

This is an original tune played on an 8 string dobro tuned to E6. Basically it's Shot Jackson's 7 string tuning with a 6th string added below the high E.

There are half tone behind the bar pull raises on strings one and two to get 7th chords and a 1/2 tone pull on string 3 to compensate for a bar slant 4 string 9th chord. After playing this for a few hours my hands were getting so sore and cut up that it was getting hard to hold to bends far and long enough to keep the song in time and tune!


I can tab out the basic positions and pulls used. These pulls will work in just about any 6th or 13th lap steel or resophonic tuning.

Thanks Roger! I am hoping to get this song on a movie sound track, hehe. The Beard is turning out to be a really nice instrument. Still haven't figured out if it's a dobro or a resonator............
