Thanks Ray for posting the obiturary. I remember singing with Virgil and Irene before I ever started playing music. I know Virgil played drums and Irene was on the fiddle. That's where Virgil Jr gets his talent. My prayers go out to the family.

My dad quit high school his senior year, lied about his age of seventeen, and joined the marines.Dad was with the forth division, second wave,on Iwo Jima.He was wounded on the third day. There were twenty eight men in his squad and only three survived.Lucky man. When my dad was twelve years old his grandmother gave him a ring and said find yourself a good woman someday and marry her.My parents celebrated 67 years of marriage last August.Lucky man.My parents loved to play music and did so for many years. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers, the flowers, and to Ray Qualls for posting this for me. Virgil, it was an honor to know your Dad all these years. I didn't know that he was a Purple Heart recipient. I salute him, as one of my sons received the Purple Heart. God bless your mom and all of the members of your family. Ray
