Isn't James at the top of his form here, too? This was my favourite band back in the day - maybe they still are!

Roger, you gotta admit that James still plays the thing pretty dang good behind this head. I haven't tried that trick for many years, but the few times I did it hurt.
Sounds like Hank has an organ affect going while not soloing. It's not Glen D. cause he's on acoustic piano. Love Burton's tone. A little edgier than his recordings with Emmy Lou

No argument there, Dave, but I still think it's a pity that great playing still has to be 'sold' to the public. (And you'll notice that he stayed safely in one position once he was doing his party-trick!

Yes, the mix was interesting; almost as though someone's tweaked the sound. JB's guitar was nice and present throughout.

A good friend of mine was playing a solo gig in hotel lounge in Tacoma back when James was with John Denver. The band was staying at the hotel and James and a couple of the guys came into the bar. My buddy asked him what it was like playing with John Denver and he said it was a good gig, but that maybe someday when he got tired of it he might play a guitar solo behind his head. Don't know if this meant he was tired of playing with Emmy Lou. Probably not. Most likely just having some fun.

A significant Aussie musician (now retired) told me about some of the artists he worked for during a 4 year stint in Las Vegas.

He said that John Denver was his favourite; never met a nicer guy or one who was more considerate of his band.

The other end of the spectrum was Jerry Lewis (the funny man).
