Pickaway

Post by Ruth Iseli-Dahler »

bOb, really not sure if this belongs here or to "non pedals": I play it on my Dobro but with a steel bar and it's on the web :?:
If it's wrong let me know or you remove it?

SO here it is:

Ruth you are one industrious lady on the pedal steel and Dobro. The songs you play show the tremendous amount of work you put in practicing. Great work!

Tony, love your posting, sounds so pathetic :)

Bent, you are correct.
I started too late to be lazy :) or call it obsession - or stumbling over this instruments just happened the right time in my life...
however, I guess I am not alone here on the forum

You're right, Ruth, is IS an obsession, but a very sweet one at that! I feel so lucky to be part of this elite group of musicians...

Oh Lynn,
listening to this video, playing Panhandle Rag with Mike this March in Dallas makes me feel that way
At 4.30 Mike says: he is used to play this twice as fast.
If I ever get the chance to repeat this, I promise to play faster and cleaner - but maybe we would anyway play Pickaway this time.
Would love to play Panhandle on dobro and a steel guitar would do the the other breakes :)
See you at the TSGA Jamboree!

Hey Ruth and Lyn

Couple or Three years ago I was at the convention in Dallas....Friend of mine...Howard Parker was looking after the Beard Resonator room.....
He just used to give me a steel bar and say "Help your self "..."Magic !!" ..I got to try a lot of the Beard Resonators....one time I was sitting their playing...having a good time...when I sensed someone standing behind me listening.....It was Mike Auldridge.....he just gave me a smile and moved on !!!....."Gulp"
I think that same year I played in the International Jam Session by invitation......
I hadnt wanted to drag a Dobro halfway round the world and get it damaged in Planes etc.....but I was fortunate that Joey Ace lent me his
Thanks Joey

Tony
