My First Non-Traditional Country Session.

Post by Brett Robinson »

Just recorded with these guys in Ohio. Great group of guys. Anyway here's a promo video with yours truly in it. Got my first dose of "Yeah, do that, but not so country-sounding..." haha. Great, ambitious group of guys and Joe Viers in Columbus was a great producer to work with.

Imitated the bell chimes with harmonics at the end.

Very cool. I like their sound. Rough around the edges, twangy rock. Wish they showed more of your psg playing. Sounds great.

Brett,
Your posted emoticon face in reference to Ransom's response, indicates a state of confusion. Let me just suggest my take regarding Ransom's comment as he added a laughing expression. First off, your profile indicates musician, something Ransom may have overlooked. Ransom seems to endorse what you are doing? My take is, its a slight on the artist you recorded for, and maybe your steel playing. If I am spot on, shame on any negativity as steel was added for this gig.... Yet another clip of exposure for said aX. To critique caliber of your expertise and or, the artist, is secondary to what I already said. Pedal steel was utilized, and who knows, if Pat Mahenny's best friend Kenny G can make a mill, why not Phillip Fox with B Robinson....

Thanks, Gary. Ransom seems like a joker, in general. I didn't post the video to highlight MY ability, but to promote a band that was kind enough to pay for a steel guitarist on their session. I can post much better examples of MY playing and that of MY band that I tour with 260+ days a year. After four years of playing steel, I have no illusions about my chops versus those of forumites who've been picking since before my dad was born!
