Mike Johnson C6th intro

Post by Steve Dodson »

On youtube there is a 2011 clip of Mike Playing Hey Good Looking in the Show Pro room at the Dallas show.
Was wondering if any of you would care to explain how Mike is doing the Intro to that tune? I have been all around it but can't seem to be happy with what I'm doing. Sorry I didn't know how to put the link with my post.
Thanks for any help.

Hey Steve, not sure if this is right but it's what I'm seeing.(hearing) C6th- start at the 12th fret with the pedal that raises strings 3& 4 a whole tone. Keep the pedal engaged the entire time until the last note. It's a reverse then forward picking pattern. Pick string 3 then 4 then 5 then 6 then slide 6 down to the 11th fret. At the 11th fret pick 5,then 4,then 3 then slide 3 down to the 10th fret. Keep repeating the pattern until you get to the 7th fret. The last note at the 7th fret is the 3rd string with no pedals. Hope this is right.
