I'm devastated.
William (Bill) Duckworth, composer and my music teacher, has died at the age of 69. I can honestly say that Bill was the greatest influence on my life. He introduced me to John Cage (and literally introduced me when Bill brought him to Bucknell and I played in one of his pieces which he conducted), David Amram, Stravinsky, Harry Partch, and Tom Waits. He changed the course of my life.

For those not familiar with Bill's music, here is a spotify list of all his major recordings: http://www.spotifyclassical.com/2012/09 ... lliam.html
And here is a wonderful tribute to him by his friends and students: http://www.artsjournal.com/postclassic/ ... -2012.html
I hope some of you will listen and be turned on to Bill's music. One of our greatest contemporary composers who never got the recognition he should have.
