Amazing Slow Downer Site Blocked By Trend Micro

Post by Dave Little »

I've been using Amazing Slow Downer for a number of years. I've always thought it a very good tool for transcribing music. Recently, I had to reformat my hard drive and consequently had to reinstall all software. When I go the the Roni Music site (maker of AMSD) and click to download the software, my Trend Micro Titanium Max Security 2012 blocks the attempt with a "Dangerous Page" message. I would really like to get going again with AMSD, but now I'm scared off. Anyone have any info on this?
Thanks

I also have Trend Micro Titanium Max Security 2012 and when I went to http://www.ronimusic.com/ it did not block the website at all.
Maybe it is a matter of settings.
I think mine are the default settings.

Let me clarify. It's not the site itself that is being blocked. It's when I click on the link to download the software that the warning page comes up.
I'm on Windows 7, so it's the links on this page that are the problem

Same here. On both the Zip file and the Setup file.
Sorry I could not help more.

The Trend web protection module blocked the downloads for me also. So, I told it to allow the download and submitted the page for reinspection by Trend Micro.

I also ran the setup exe file through Virus Total and 41 scanners found it to be safe, including Trend Micro.

I have no interest in installing this software, so my analysis ends here. It is still possible that something besides the program itself gets installed with it. Or, perhaps a previous version had been infected. These things happen every now and then.

You can tell the Trend Micro Blocked Web Page to allow you to proceed at your own risk. Be sure to check the box to inspect the site again. If your anti-malware definitions are current, Trend's realtime scanner will tell you if the downloaded file is considered as hostile.

If it is clean, consider this a false positive, erring on the side of caution.

I suggest running untrusted files through the VirusTotal.com scanner. I have a plug-in for Firefox that offers me the option to scan a file on Virus Total, or save as, or cancel.
