Earthlink had some kind of email outage today and suddenly I lost 4000 messages from my Inbox. I chatted more or less ineffectually with Mumbai about it. I have no question here, I just want to fling some barnyard byproduct at Earthlink in a public setting. No matter how mad I get or even if I investigate using my iphone as a hub for home internet, I'd still have to pay Earthlink for dial-up service (we have DSL presently) to keep some longtime email addresses that date back to a previous century. Too big a hassle to try to get far-flung correspondents to change.
All humbly bow to the Omnipotent and Indifferent Grid.

If a mail server crashed, they will probably restore it with a recent backup. If you're lucky, you won't lose all 4000 messages.
