Take Me As I Am Or Let Me Go (after playing for 10 weeks)

Post by Pete Nicholls »

Greetings to all, and thanks for looking at the post. I started playing steel 10 weeks ago(thanks to my buddy Bernie Kelley who loaned me one of his), and have become hooked and have bought one of my own! I have been recording a new track approximately every week and posting it to keep up with my progress. For my 10-week track, I hope you will take a listen and give some critique and suggestions on how I should progress from here. I don't read music, and tabs even confuse me. I have played guitar for 50 years and have always worked with chords and inversions to be able to play melodies. I have approached the steel guitar the same way. I know I have barely scratched the surface, and am having more musical fun than I have had in years!

One thing I like about this track is that I was able to use all of the chord grips that I have learned so far!

Pete, you have one of the most important factors figured out, and that is playing the melody to a song and making it sound just like the words to the song.

You are doing great.

Way to go.

Fine Job Pete... As Mark said, I like the fact that you are playing the Melody, and letting the Band do what ever else is needed... I'd say that you are off to a GOOD START...
