Wow Leo, I'm very saddened to hear this! I've known Bobby for many years. I remember him playing piano at the old after hours shift at the Imperial Inn in Santa Fe Springs with Bruno, Archie and the guys. He also did some fiddlin' from time to time. I just talked to him a few months ago and he told me that he and Proctor Rogers had done some playing at a gig on the same piano.. Here's a shot of Bobby playing with Yar and Sharon at the old Branding Iron in San Bernadino. Sharon's now playing bass at John A's club in Nashville.... RIP Bobby.....JH in Va.

well Jerry! Time is marching on and so many are going home. This new world of hurt is setting in. The kids just a little under us have sure made a mess out of things all across the board.Looks like the only one in the box with Jack is " Brad Paisley ". See he's still alive from all that candy stuff he done. Sometimes I wish I would have stayed out of this crazy world, but,God knows what he wants out of me,cause I don't. I'm just picking alone til the next call.

Bobby had recently been playing in Johnson City, Tennessee. I don't know what part of the state that's in though. I don't know if he was still playing with Jean Shephard at the time of his passing.... He was a member of the Steel Guitar Forum as that's where I got back in touch with him about twelve years ago or so. He used to post on here but it's been a long time..........JH in Va.

Anna and I are sorry to hear about Robert Crigger's passing. Our prayers go out to him and his family. We mete Robert at the Out Doors mens Club in Kingsport Tennessee back in 205 and Anna plays keyboard and asked Robert if he could play Rag Time by Scott Joplin and he said sure and he did a few songs for her while on break in the band. What a great talent he had and personality.
He will be missed by many.

our dear buddy passed unexpectantly Robert Lee Crigger
Robert had been living in Johnson City, TN (about 20 miles from me in North East, TN) for many years. He used to drive almost 300 miles to Nashville to play the Opry with Jean Sheppard, then drive back after the show. He did this for a long time, everytime Jean was on the Opry. He also did other dates with her.
I referred my first cousin to Robert for some piano lessons. My cousin is a carpenter and he said that Robert told him that he installed drywall when he was not playing piano somewhere.
I would run into him every once in a while. Little Jimmy Dickens used a pickup band to do a concert here a few years ago. He brought a steel player with him from Nashville and Robert Crigger was on piano and my guess is that Robert got together the rest of the band since he knew the good players in our area. He did some singing as a warm up for Jimmy. I had never heard him sing before. He was a very good singer.
He had a table set up at a festival here and was playing his piano and selling tapes (before CD's) I bought one of his tapes and chatted with him. We had several mutual musician friends in the area. The last time I saw him was at a restaurant that the band I was in was playing at. He was with Bob Knigge, who is a good friend and played bass for the Everly Brothers during their prime. To round it out, Jackie Bear was at the table with Bob and Robert. Jackie is a great drummer and played for local favorite Eddie Skelton for many years.
I know he had a brother named Ralph that was also a super piano player. I was told that he was (and maybe still is) the piano player for Amy Grant.
Robert was a great piano player and musician. Even though he was not a close friend, I will miss him.
