Post by Kenny Martin »

Well, there is a couple of stumbles on my part but it was a nervous time for me. Tommy White being there was scary but at the same time he is such an awesome friend i wanted to do my best.

Probably the one and only time i'll get to be there but there isn't anything that could replace playin the Opry and Tommy White together! Thx Tommy, love ya brother!

One shining moment in "This Ol' Cowboy"
Yeah, i stole that tailing lick from TW! :whoa:

Brag on, brother! 'Bout time the Opry started to recognize the hard workin' country-rockers! Soundin' purty!

Well I'm still flyin high from the Opry Saturday. I have to say that Sunday morning I got up early and left the hotel headed back. It was so quiet and at 6:00am the sun was just com in up. As I headed down Hwy 40 leaving Nashville I looked in the review mirror and saw the Batman building or at least that's what I call it. It was sad to leave for some reason. I had George Jones playin "The Cold Hard ...Truth" on a CD. It made me really think how lucky and or blessed I am to have played the Ryman and now The Big Opry in Nashville. Ya know, it's the top for me as a steel player.

Really, what else can top that, nothing! So my heart was heavy because I really would have loved to have had the chance to play music for a living. I'm old now in respect to what Nashville wants so it made me think, I'm so thankful for Doug Gray and MTB to want me to play steel for them. I'm so thankful Doug Gray wanted me to be a part of his history. I'm also so thankful for Tommy White being the friend he is to me. A million players would love to have done what I did. But somehow I was sad leaving Nashville.

It was like George Jones was singing "The Cold Hard Truth" to me and that truth is, I'm just a poor boy from Columbia SC and pretty much will never get that chance again. That's "The Cold Hard Truth" Thx George Jones for the tears I had as I left the dream......km

Kenny, great playing....beautiful tone. What an experience it must be to play the Opry and the legendary MTB. Sounds like they picked the perfect man for the job.

Must be a treat to hang with Tommy too.

Thx guys,
Yes, TW is not only the Worlds #1 steel player to me, but he is a the nicest guy you will ever meet.

Yes, I believe things happen for a reason and for some reason I was given a gift to play with MTB and play at the Opry!

Thx again....
