No steel on this song. "The Lighthouse", JD Sumner

Post by Donny Hinson »

It's very rare that I hear a song or artist that really "moves" me, but I felt compelled to post this link. It's an old cover of an original song by The Hinsons gospel group (no close relation to yours truly). The quality isn't great, but the singing is nothing short astounding, IMHO, and gives me chills whenever I hear it.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! :D

I did enjoy that, Donny. Our band typically closes our shows with that song. I also enjoyed reading the note on the link, telling about the touring days with Elvis and his wanting to hear this song over and over. Thanks for the link.

The Lighthouse

Thanx for sharing this Donny, it brings back warm memories of my time with J.D. and the Stamps.

If you get a chance check out their studio version of the Doris Akers penned "Sweet Sweet Spirit"

Not as spellbinding as "lighthouse" but sweet indeed.
It was my personal favorite.

Lighthouse

Donny, that is one of my favorite songs ever...........................

The Hinson's and the Happy Goodman's are by far, my favorite groups of all time that sing this song. I loved to hear Rusty Goodman sing it.

I sure do miss Rusty Goodman and Kenny Hinson.

I was lucky enough to get to spend some time with Rusty Goodman while he was alive. It was a pleasure to know such a good person.

Here is a Happy Goodman version with Jack Smith on steel.
