McAfee Service Host error

Post by Richard Sinkler »

I keep getting the following error every 15 minutes or so on my XP computer, mostly when using Chrome. But I just had to reboot because this error made it so I could not access the internet and rebooting is the only way to cure the problem, and I got this message immediately, even before opening Chrome. Sometimes it kills the internet connection and sometimes it doesn't. I have Googled this message and can find a whole bunch of people having this problem, but no solutions or hints as to the problem. Any ideas???

Anyone have any idea?

More info: This only happens using Google Chrome on my XP desktop. No other browser has the problem and I also run this McAfee crap on my laptop with Vista, but there are no problems there.

{Of course, when my subscription is up, I will go back to Trend Micro (even if I have to stand outside a school and steal kids' lunch money :lol: ). Go ahead Wiz, say "I told you so". I deserve it. I couldn't afford to resubscribe to Trend when it was time to, and found a discount on McAfee and had to go that route. }

I can't find any answers when I Google the error message. Just find that many others have the error problem and nothing specific to Chrome.

I really like Chrome far better than any other browser. I had to settle on Firefox which is too slow for me. Booting up, I can click to start the program, go to take a pee, and return just about time the program finishes loading. Also slow when navigating to another link.

Go to the McAfee users forum and read through this huge topic, with over 330 replies, all about McAfee Service Host Errors. There are other topic about this problem, which is not so uncommon with their software.

I actually did that. I went as far as I could before I got disgusted with the fact that no one really knows anything, not even McAfee.

I know the errors of my ways and as soon as I can afford to, I WILL go back to Trend.
