getting rid of svchost.exe

Post by Bill Myrick »

this keeps coming in to my computer and running constantly causing spikes in the usage and memory shortage. When you show all services running there are several and they keep coming. Running HP Pavilion desk top with Vista home premium. Any suggestions ? Thanks. Bill.

Bill,
Don't know if this will help but go here

to read about svchost. Windows recommends you do not delete it. They supply a fix-up tool on this page

You can't "get rid of svchost.exe" - it is part of the Windows operating system. However, as Cal pointed out, there are other things that use svchost which may need to be tamed.
