I had the pleasure of picking with Bob several times down in Springfield, Oregon many years ago. He was certainly one of the Portland area icons in the days of Jimmy Patton and back before Gene Breeden left for Nashville. My condolences to his family and to the loss of a fine player in the region.

Those are kind words, Doug. Bob was an excellent entertainer and a fine guitar player. He had a very smooth, pleasing style and most everything he played was at or near recording quality. We worked together for quite a few years along with Steve West, Pat Web, Jim Barnett, Dale Snyder and others. We opened the original Flower Drum and the Wagon (later the Nashville West). I have many fine memories of my time with Bob.

I met Bob in Bakersfield in the 70's. He was gigging with Tom Brumley and he let me set in on a beautiful gretsch. Real nice gentleman, sorry to hear the news.

It was nice to see "old" friends again. Funny how you can live in the same town, played together 30 years ago and never see them until an event like this brings you to the fact that we all are treading water a little longer.

Thanks for letting me sit in.
