Ken, we had Steve out to Merkle Tx to play for one of our West Texas Steel Guitar assn meetings and he is as good as I have ever heard. He knows every trick in the book. He can play as soulfully as you've ever heard or as fast as you want to hear all as cleanly picked as it can be done. It's only my opinion but I think Steve is on a serious upturn in his life and I'm thinking you are gonna hear a lot more from him.

There's nothing to worry about regarding the future of pedal steel guitar with such a wealth of exceptionally gifted younger players are carrying the torch.
In recent years I've been inspired by Buck Reid, Randy Beavers, Tommy White - and there's Steve Palousek! He's clearly worked so very hard at his craft and I'm astounded at the breadth of his musical pallette. I'm unreasonably proud of the fact that I once shared a stage with him with a guitar borrowed from Andy Reiss - I was well-and-truly roasted that night, but the memory of Steve's incandescent playing will stay with me for ever.
I've just put on his CD while I work on my 2011 taxes - it makes an arduous task that bit easier!

Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles, Martins, and a Gibson Super 400!

Thnaks for bringing these vid's to the top. I had always heard of Steve but had never heard him play until a couple weeks ago in Phoenix. I also had the honor of being his bass player there. What a player and a most down to earth guy to boot! Looking forward to hearing him in Dallas next month again.
