Sintra (Portugal)

Post by Susan Alcorn (deceased) »

Here's a short piece I composed/improvised that perhaps some of you may enjoy. Two years ago I was in Sintra, an area south of Lisbon, Portugal, for a performance, and at dawn the next day, before heading to the airport, the owner of the theater drove us around the area (a World Heritage Site). Mist, narrow roads, castles dating back to the Moors, Victorian mansions, summer getaways for kings and queens, but this palpable feeling that perhaps something mysterious resides in the mist - hence the portamento and ghost tones.

Here's the link; I hope you enjoy it: http://picosong.com/Wiy/

Oh, I do like this one, Susan! While I always enjoy hearing what you're up to, this piece is especially fine; shouldn't be too radical for some, but plenty of depth, exploration and atmosphere. Wonderful!

I really like this piece.

I took a day trip from Lisbon to Sintra a decade ago. It's beautiful. I distinctly remember the mult-colored castle with the sea life themes.
