Charlie Louvin in Rolling Stone "2011 in Memoriam"

Post by robert kramer »

Rolling Stone magazine has included Country Music Hall of Fame member Charlie Louvin in their article: “2011 in Memoriam – Artists We Lost in 2011.” Charlie continued to work right up to the end of his life at 83 – even reaching out to Alt Country & Rock bands and audiences. Fans and friends were able see and hear him sing on the Opry, at his own show dates, on the ET Record Shop, working Bonnaroo, opening for Cake & Cheap Trick or sitting in at an East Nashville club.

Charlie Louvin

I remember in the latter years of my Mother's life, she would tell me that when we lived on Reed Avenue in Memphis, The Louvin Brothers would arrive back home from a road trip. They lived across the street from us during the 1950's. I was only 3 or 4 years old, but it brings back fond memories of my Mother's stories.

I was forunate enough to meet Charlie Louvin backstage at the Grand Ol' Opry about 10 years ago and mentioned my family to him and he did remember us. Very courteous man and a great talent. He will be missed.
