I am still new on steel (soon 2 years) and I learned a lot while practicing this one; there's more to learn but that's right now what is possible.....

Do you ever play with other musicians in a band type setting? That really keeps you on your toes and helps you develop as a player.

Thank you all so much, I am overwhelmed.....
Larry, I startet with Steel because the band, where I played the keys, had me to imitate the pedal steel. It sounded bad. So I decided to learn the instrument with that lovely tone. I did not even know how it looked by then.

I got the advice to start with Dobro and later switch to the more complexe steel- I did so.
I learned them with great enthusiasm and brought them in to the band.... however, they wantet me back at the keys!!
I knew: when I quit here, I will have no band: after a years "suffering" I decided to quit. I feel so free now!
This November, we startet a Band, LICKS, you can see a song on my youTube. I will try to softly bring in the steel there... I know Mike Auldridge played Steel in rather Bluegrasbands.....

Ruth, that song gave me the shivers. This means that you played so fine. It is simply amazing that you have learned this much in 2 years. This again should mean that you will become a top notch steel player.
How many hours a day do you practice?

You made the steel sound like it should. Also, you were not afraid to play with authority and lots of punch. This again means that you are getting to be a confident player.
Keep up the good work. Now...go to work on another one!

Only 2 years..........guess what, your on your way to playing professionally in a few years from now.

Don't get into the habit of just playing other people songs & using tabs, get BIAB or some chord tracks and create your own songs, move in & out of the chord progression, hear each chord & arrange some form of simple licks etc., you'll feel the magic come around sooner or later.

Like I said, your on your way, I would like to hear you 5 years from now, keep up the excellent work.

Huuuhhhhhhh, Kenneth, today's temperature in snowy switzerland 25 degrees, snowstorm, 5 (five) feet powdersnow within the next 20 hours.......
Thank you for your advices! I doubt I will ever play for money. Of course it would be exiting but who would be interested in switzerland? I practiced a lot and I don't know whether I will be able to invest that much time in the future.............we will see and I am looking forward to your comments in 5 years

@Bent: Thank you so much, I can't believe ..... I practice say 2 hours a day if possible but it can be more. In addition I practice the Dobro and I am convinced it helps each other! When I got it with pickblocking on Dobro, it was but to transferre it to PSG

@ Bishop Ronnie: thanks for the "young" You're right concerning the band!

Crowbaer, you heard me complaining during this time......but after all, I could play some gigs with them. Like Larry said, that's quite different from playing alone and with BIAB!!
Well, I hope I will get a occasion somewhere, someday.....
