Panhandle Rag

Post by Peter Freiberger »

Anyone recognize this version of Panhandle Rag? It turned up on YouTube today when I searched "Buddy Emmons".

It’s Vassar on fiddle – which reminded me I had this LP back when I would buy everything Mike Auldridge recorded. The LP is Slidin’ Smoke (Flying Fish) – Mike Auldridge & Jeff Newman w/ Vassar. On "Panhandle Rag" the Dobro is in bluegrass G and then they modulate to E for the E9 steel ride.

Thanks, Bob! I should have known you'd know! Nice version, and in convenient keys for both instrument.

That's actually Josh Graves on Dobro and Buddy Emmons on steel. It's the first track on the Josh Graves CD "Sultan of Slide".

Thanks Mike Bagwell - At least I got Vassar right. This reminds me never to jump to conclusions.
